Politician/businessman Clive Palmer has been ordered to pay damages of AU$500,000 and additional damages AU$1 million for infringement of a musical work and literary work (lyrics) entitled “We’re Not Gonna Take It” by recording Palmer’s musical work “Aussies Not Gonna Cop It” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96hY4crlW0w and synchronising that work to associated videos used in his political campaign. Costs usually follow the result.
The Federal Court held that the Palmer work/recording and associated videos were without proper licence and a reproduction of a substantial part of the musical work and literary work “We’re Not Gonna Take It”.
